Presidents Charity

A Message from our President Keith Mead:

Firstly I would like to thank you All for having the trust and confidence in me by voting me in as President of Aylesbury Town Bowls Club at the recent AGM. I will try to do as good a job as our outgoing President has done over the last 3 years, thank you Linda Hewins.

Secondly,  I have chosen a local charity, namely Young Carers Bucks https://carersbucks.org/information-for-carers/young-carers/ as the Presidents Charity for the coming year. To some of you, this may seem a slightly unusual cause to support when you look around at the very deserving larger national charities that we and our families may have more need of in our coming years, but my thoughts are to try and give some support to those youngsters who are our future.  It shocked me to find out that there are over 2000 registered Young Carers in Buckinghamshire alone.

The vision of Young Carers Bucks is :-

Our current vision as an organisation is that “every unpaid carer in Buckinghamshire feels recognised, respected and supported in their role- so they can access the right support, at the right time, in a way that works for them- regardless of age, circumstances and cultural or socio- economic background.”

Every contribution we receive makes a meaningful difference to reaching our vision.  Please see below how donations can be used.

£30 pays for a light meal and snacks for over 20 Young Carers during their club nights giving them a break from their caring role and the opportunity to be a child.

£50- £100 helps fund activity trips for small groups of Young Carers; offering respite and the opportunity to enjoy experiences they might not otherwise have.

I hope you will support my choice of Charity knowing that any help we can give this organisation will allow these children and young adults to have a few hours of respite/fun from their very challenging lives.

Take care, stay safe and be well.

Keith.
